Music Education Scholarship
The AVA Music Education Scholarship... is awarded to one senior choral student each year planning to major in music education. District winners are chosen on the basis of a resume and an interview, and the state winner is chosen during the All-State Festival from this pool.
Music Education Scholarship Checklist:
1 "Must Know" Info: Print and study Procedure Page P8, Procedure for AVA Music Education Scholarship.
2 Registration: Mail your Music Education Scholarship Registration Packet by the deadline to your District Chair (see deadline and address below). Include these items in your registration packet:
- Music Education Scholarship Application Form F14
- (no fees!)
- a copy of your MENC card
- Please add a $50.00 late fee if mailing after the deadline.
3 Music Scholarship Interview: District Chairs will contact directors with an interview time after they receive the complete registration. Candidates for the Music Education Scholarship need to bring TWO COPIES of a resume packet to the interview, each of which include:
- F15 Music Education Resume as the cover page for each packet
- a list of musical honors (typed)
- a list of community and extra-curricular activities (typed)
- an essay explaining why you want to become a music educator (typed)
- 3 letters of recommendation
4 State Music Education Scholarship: District Music Education Scholarship winners will be notified of a final interview time, and need to bring THREE COPIES of the resume packet to the state interview.
