The Alabama All-State Show Choir (ASSC) is a highly selective group of approximately 60 students (usually 30 male and 30 female) who are chosen after undergoing a vocal audition on the current year's ASSC music selections as well as a dance audition. The dance routine will be taught at the audition site. Students enrolled in their school choir program in grades 10-12 may audition for ASSC, and are not required to be a member of a school show choir. The All-State Show Choir rehearses and performs during the January AMEA Convention. Students selected for ASSC are encouraged but not required to audition for All-State Choir.

All-State Show Choir Checklist:

1 "Must Know" Info: Print and study P-3 for specific information regarding every aspect of All-State Show Choir Auditions and Festival.

2 Audition Application: Mail Audition Application Packet by the deadline to Pat Blackwell, AVA Executive Secretary, 1703 Emily Circle, Huntsville, AL 35802. Include these items in your registration packet:

• completed forms which apply; two pdf versions are available from the website, regular and fillable: F-6 and F-6a
• school check or signed school Purchase Order
• a copy of your MENC card
• Please add a $50.00 late fee if mailing after the deadline.

3 Audition: Directors will be contacted about audition time(s). Each student must have the following at auditions:

• F-7 All-State Show Choir Audition Form, signed by PARENT and STUDENT, after reading P-3a
• complete set of music (NO PHOTOCOPIES)
• appropriate attire: P-3 states "modest rehearsal attire suitable for movement"

4 Registration (for those who make All-State Show Choir): Notification of students accepted into All-State Show Choir will be mailed TBA. If you have not received this by TBA, contact your District Chair. For students accepted into All-State Show Choir, mail the All-State Registration Packet by TBA to Pat Blackwell, AVA Executive Secretary, 1703 Emily Circle, Huntsville, AL 35802:

• completed forms F8 and F8a OR fillable F8 and fillable F8a
• school check or signed school Purchase Order
• Please add a $50.00 late fee if mailing after 10/31.
