There will be construction going on at Bluff Park United Methodist Church during All-State auditions (outside in the back), so the entrance we have used in the past ( in the back downstairs) will be closed.  You will need to park in the large lot (closest to Alford Ave.) and come in the main sanctuary entrance and then come through the halls and down stairs.

All-State Auditions and Festival

All-State Festival: April 15-17, 2010, at Samford University

All-State Festival is an opportunity for students with outstanding ability and initiative to receive public recognition, to sing under the direction of nationally recognized choral clinicians, and to perform choral literature of the highest quality. Directors may choose to register students for auditions at any of the sites listed below. Students will audition on the All-State music for their choir and the state song "Alabama." All-State Festival is a three-day event that culminates in a professionally recorded concert.

Links to forms, the music list, clinician bios, and other information will be added (top right of this page) as they become available.

All-State Checklist:

1 All-State Music: Directors should order music for each student planning to audition for All-State at least eight weeks prior to the audition date, and should contact the District Chair for a copy of any music selection that has not been received by three weeks before the audition.

2 "Must Know" Info: Print and study P-1, P-1a, and P-2, as well as Sections III, IV, V, and VI of the Standing Rules from the AVA Handbook for specific information regarding every aspect of All-State Auditions and All-State Festival.

3 Audition Application: Mail Audition Application Packet by March 1, 2010, to Pat Blackwell, AVA Executive Secretary, 1703 Emily Circle, Huntsville, AL 35802. Include these items in your application packet :

4 Audition: District Chairs will contact directors about audition time(s) after they receive the complete audition application and schedule all of the District auditions. Each student must bring the following to auditions:

5 Registration (for those who make All-State): Directors will receive notification of students accepted into All-State after . If you have not received this by December 1, contact your District Chair. Re-read P-2 and for students accepted into All-State, mail the All-State Registration Packet by December 15 to Pat Blackwell, AVA Executive Secretary, 1703 Emily Circle, Huntsville, AL 35802:

All-State Choirs:

  • High School SATB: selected by audition from grades 10-12
  • High School SSA: selected by audition from grades 9-12 (females only)
  • High School TTBB: selected by audition from grades 9-12 (males only)
  • Middle School MIXED: selected by audition from boys grades 7-8 and girls grade 8
  • Middle School TREBLE: selected by audition from girls grades 7-8
